Summer is officially here- which means it is about the get hot. Your car can build to higher temperatures if it is parked without the proper precautions. So stay cool this summer with these tips!
Park in the Shade
If it is possible, it is best to park in a shady area, even if it means you have to walk further. Better yet, use a parking structure if you can. It will be worth the extra bucks if you can ride home comfortably.
Put Up Sunshades and Window Visors
Possibly the best way to prevent your car from getting hotter is to stop the rays from entering your car. Sunshades and window visors reflect and block the light from the car’s interior to counteract the summer heat.
Cover Your Seats and Dash
Have you ever gotten in a car where the vinyl is too hot to the touch? Dash covers protect the interior surfaces from getting too hot, which makes your ride more comfortable. Blankets are also great to protect your seats and keep them cool. These also protect the interior from being damaged by the harmful UV rays, which can cause cracking and fading.
Create Air Flow
Part of the reason it gets so hot inside a car during summer is that the air sits still. There are a few ways to combat this. First, you can purchase a solar-powered fan to create constant air circulation. This is probably the best option to keep it cool. Second, leave the windows slightly cracked to give the air room to escape. Just do not leave a crack bigger than an arm can get through to avoid burglars. Third, open your doors for a couple of minutes before getting in the car. This helps to let the hot air escape while letting the cool air enter.
